Have you ever wondered what a true Orlando wedding looked like?
Melissa and Derek are two proud residents of Connecticut who decided to spice up their special day by sprinkling bits and hints of Orlando all throughout the event. They kept up the theme by presenting postcards with little facts and notes about Orlando written on the back – a very cute idea! They also served delicious shrimp cocktails to the guests. Consider me thoroughly impressed, but I’m getting way ahead of myself.
Let’s start with preparations!
Because the guest list was a small one, preparations were a breeze. The gentlemen had cute socks with iconic characters on beneath their dapper flint-shaded ensembles, almost like a small surprise under their slacks – a subtle nod toward creative freedom for their outfits. Derek looked dapper in his classic black tuxedo, his boutonnière a lovely pale pink bloom. Melissa looked stunning in her A-line wedding gown embellished with lacy details, with a fanback that trailed beautifully behind her along the aisle.
Melissa is a self-proclaimed neurotic. Despite prior warning, I was still able to capture some loving and calm moments between her and her husband-to-be, especially when they saw each other for the first time. Their first look ended up being a sweet and tender moment, and Melissa was all bright smiles all throughout.
The ceremony was held outside, and proved to be rather solemn and intimate. Still, it’s easy to feel the love, not only from the couple, but from guests watching the special event unfold before them as well. Reception was festive, emotional, and full of warm embraces. While it started out with touching speeches and a peaceful toast, everyone was pumped up and ready to celebrate once the dance floor was open. The men even lifted their pants up to their knees to show off their matching socks! Such an ingenious wedding with a lively bunch of people!
