Lisa + Brad

Another question I get asked a lot is how I got into Wedding photography. Here’s the story, once I finished High School I decided I was going to study Communications and perhaps become a journalist or something TV related. I was always pretty good at English and loved my TV class in high school so I thought if I mixed both together I might enjoy that sort of job. Two years into college I worked out that communications (and regular schooling for that matter) was not for me. On the other side of things I always enjoyed filming things and creating stories from what I had filmed so film school would be my next venture and I could walk away with a degree within 21 intense months. Perfect. So off I went to film school with big dreams and much ambition. Midway through film school my heart was set on Art Direction and then finally, once graduation rolled around, I was set on becoming a video Editor. In the meantime, I had bought my first DSLR camera and was taking pictures for fun. I graduated film school, got started on a couple of editing jobs that my school had got me leads for and I hated it….editing video that is. I thought maybe it was jobs I was getting so I figured I would look for somewhere that would let me edit something I thought looked fun. πŸ™‚ I’m a major girly girl at heart and have always been fascinated but weddings so I started interning at a wedding videography company while me and my boyfriend at the time worked on setting up a Music Video company (which is whole other story). While interning, I realized that I just didn’t want to be in video anymore…..I couldn’t quite pin-point why at the time but I just lost my love for it. I started to get better at taking pictures and was enjoying that a lot but I still wanted to remain in the Wedding industry so we just went for it…we started to build a Wedding photography company together. Lots of things changed within the first 18-months. The relationship my boyfriend and I had began to crumble and we eventually parted ways leaving me wondering if I could actually pursue this without him. From a business standpoint, it was one of the best decisions I could have ever made. I’ve been doing it on my own ever since, haven’t looked back and I am enjoying even minute of it. πŸ™‚ So that’s the “short story” of how I got here.Β It’s interesting the paths life leads you down.

Anyway, meet Lisa and Brad who exchanged vows at 310 Lakeside in Downtown Orlando. I’ve spoke about how much I adore this location in previous posts. I just love it and the staff is always super friendly. Lisa and Brad opted for a First Look for their wedding day so we had a bunch of time to just take some really fun and edgy images around the city. Downtown is probably one of my favorite places to shoot. You don’t have to walk too far to find some good photo spots. These two are so very sweet and laid back which are characteristics that go a long way on a wedding day. πŸ˜‰ Β Lisa didn’t even batter an eyelid when she was informed that they couldn’t have their Ceremony outside due to the weather. The ceremony was so beautiful inside anyway….another reason to love 310. πŸ™‚ Lisa and Brad’s families were just as warm and welcoming too. I loved this day…
